good for non veggies

This is an Authentic Kerala Seafood Restaurant which my roommate loves and I hardly have seafood so whenever she gets homesick, we go to various seafood restaurants which she pays for. We had Prawns Masala Fry, Surmai fry and Prawns Fried rice which all tasted great but I think it was on the more expensive side than I would have liked if I were paying for it. Ambiance is not very comfortable and there is a constant smell of non veg coming from the kitchen side which will definitely put off veg lovers, so beware of that while coming here. Vegetarians have options in the menu though so it is not like they would starve if they came here.

Good place, especially for non veg lovers

In my group of friends as well as work colleagues,I am the only vegetarian person so more often than not,I am left accompanying them to places that have mostly non veg items on the menu.Went here with 4 people from office and everyone ordered the thali, I had veg thali which had a plethora of items-rasam, rice, papad, aviyal (which I loved),sheera and so on. Amazing food, but I think this place is more geared towards non veg lovers so I will stay away.

Delectable !!!

Fort Area in Mumbai has a lot of good restaurants that go unnoticed due to them maintaining a low profile in general. Deluxe is one such place & a perfect embodiment of the proverb "Don't judge a book by its cover". We would not have stumbled upon this place, had we not lost our way around here :D ! What a way to get lost !

The place from outside looks shady and dingy. Making our way to the top floor, we find the AC seating area with pretty ok & minimalist decor. Best time to visit would be around 12:30-1:00 pm, to avoid waiting for a table.

One of Deluxe's highlight is the traditional ceremonial feast (called Sadya) laid out on a banana leaf [This is the one thing that is missing at Fountain Plaza]. It comes with the usual accompaniments of Avial, Stew, Vegetable preparation (called Thoran), Chutneys, Sambar, Rasam, Curd, Papad and Pickle.

Non-veg items are also pretty good, especially the Fish Fry. Most of the Chicken or Beef dishes are pretty good too and on the spicier side, staying true to the cuisine. Those with bland palates or no clue regarding Kerala cuisine might not like it though.

Warning :- 1 ) This place serves food from Kerala, which though geographically is in South India has a cuisine very different from that of its neighbours. Specially for the vegetarians, this isn't your regular Dosa, Idly, Upma joint and the Veg Meals served here is unlike any other, both items-wise and preparation-wise.

2) Kerala cuisine is high on non-veg and eating items like Beef is very common, even among Hindus. So people who have a problem with that can very well stay away.

Verdict: A great VFM place serving excellent Kerala food. Highly recommended.

Must visit for Awesome Kerala Food

Its a very humble looking place. The ambiance is ordinary but the food is the real deal and the price at which the food is served makes is all the more worth it.

I remember my first visit to Deluxe. The Kerala Chicken and 3 Kerala Parathas was my dinner. It came for an amazingly cheap 93 Rs. The Kerala Chicken is to die for. Try having a Surmai Fry with Kerala Chicken, Chicken Deluxe is pretty good too, So is Chicken Shimla. Have Kerala Paratha ( also known as Malabar Paratha ) to a lot of people. If you are there for lunch, you can try the Sadya Its a gem of a place, something that drives South Indian Non veg eaters from far flung suburbs to the Fort area in South Bombay. If you work anywhere in South Bombay, then there is no way you should miss out on eating here :)
